The Vision
In this downtown urban loft, the design team wanted to create a bold, masculine, yet sophisticated environment. The "Metropolitan Noir" project uses high contrast between dark cabinetry and light marble to create a dramatic visual impact. In a city apartment where square footage is precious, every element had to earn its place. Deep, saturated surfaces make a compact room feel intentional rather than small, and the interplay of shadow and light gives the space its cinematic character.
The Detail: Matte Black & Texture
The heart of the room is the MONACO vanity in a matte black fluted finish. The vertical ridges catch the light, adding depth to the dark surface. Paired with matte black fixtures, the vanity feels integrated and architectural, while its matte white sink introduces a crisp counterpoint that keeps the palette from feeling heavy.
The MONACO's 31-inch footprint suits urban bathrooms where wall space is limited, and it arrives fully assembled. A single drawer on a DTC full-extension slide opens completely, so nothing gets lost at the back. As an accessible entry point into the collection, it proves that a dramatic, high-contrast bathroom does not require a sprawling budget or a sprawling floor plan.
Illumination as Contrast
Against dark cabinetry, lighting does the heavy lifting. A halo of soft LED light behind the mirror separates the vanity from the wall and makes the matte black finish read as depth rather than darkness. It is the simplest way to keep a noir palette from swallowing the room.
